Spring Walk to School

Spring Walk to School Day - Thurs. May. 25
Posted on 05/25/2019

While not always possible for students in the before- and after-school program, or those who live outside of our walk zone, active transportation has many benefits for students’ health, well-being, and for our school community.

Nearly 100 cars drop students off at Avalon each day. Many students arrive late after being dropped off. Encouraging students to walk, cycle, or scooter their way (or even part of their way) to school can help make our school zone safer and improve student learning.

Attached is a map of our school, reminding you of the areas for student drop-off, times that our bus loop is closed, and the limited number of angle parking spots on Portobello Blvd.

Also attached are the Walk Route Maps from OSTA that help direct you along safer sidewalks and crossings.

We hope these will help you plan your route to school on our Spring Walk to School Day, and in the future! Be on the lookout tomorrow for a special guest on the walk routes.

Traffic/Parking Map:
Make our school zone safer and give your child the gift of fresh air and exercise before the bell rings - try walking or wheeling for your school journey! Driving your child to school? Please respect the parking and traffic rules.
Use the back lot to drop your child off, and use the angled spots out front if you need to park. There is also 3-hour parking along the main road in the front of the school.
